  The Vail Valley is overflowing with outdoor activities in the summer. The staff at Ptarmigan invites you to explore all that the valley has to offer and if you need a recommendation, stop by our store and talk with our resident adventurers.

 


Whether you prefer a groomed track or a backcountry adventure, the Vail Valley offers it all. The Vail Golf Course has a free set track of more than 15K for skating and classic. McCoy Park in Beaver Creek and The Lodge at Cordillera also has skating and classic track and charge a trail fee.

Fish in the valley's world-class creeks, rivers and lakes with locals who know the water. Complete packages with retail and rental gear, some offer licenses and guided trips that include a "dory" or raft. Free casting clinics in Beaver Creek Resort are scheduled daily for anyone to join in.

The Vail area is home to many huts that are part of the 10th Mountain Division Hut system, located in the mountains of Colorado between Aspen, Leadville and Vail. Styled after the European tradition of hut-to-hut travel, 24 huts provide overnight shelter for seasoned backcountry skiers and riders, snowshoers, mountain bikers, and backpackers. Reservations are required.
